Membeship of OYY
All Bachelor's and Master's degree students in the University of Oulu belong to the Student Union of the University of Oulu - OYY*. OYY is an organisation that supervises the interests of students in the University of Oulu and supports their studying and wellbeing.
By paying the Student Union membership fee, you get a student card and many benefits to go with it.
Students get inexpensive and often free health care services from Finnish Student Health Services (FSHS or YTHS in Finnish). You’ll get reductions in buses, trains and many shops and restaurants. You’re entitled to OYY’s services, such as the Survival Pack for arriving students and get student priced meals at the university. You’ll also receive a calendar each autumn.
Most importantly of all, both the members of the board and the staff of the Student Union strive to take care of your interests at the university and in your life around your studies. We also organise all sorts of activities to make your study period lively and fun!

Membership Fee
The membership fee of OYY is paid before registering to the University for each academic year. Registration period for old students starts in May. They can pay the fee via Oodi with internet banking codes, with a normal bank transfer with a Finnish bank or in cash at the Student Union office.
Registration of new students starts after they have been admitted to study. New students pay the Student Union membership fee once in Finland by bank transfer with a Finnish bank or in cash at the Student Union office.
In mid-August to mid-September there is also a possibility to pay the fee in cash in the Student Services at the campus.

The membership fee for the academic year 2010-2011 is 87€. It includes the FSHS health care fee of 42€. If you register present only for one semester, the fee is 43,50€. For postgraduates the fee is 45€. The membership fee is decided yearly by the Student Union Council of Representatives.
