Information about the renovations at the University

Are you interested in, and possibly a bit confused about the renovations taking place on the University campuses? 1. Löyly – Find a job in Oulu 6.4.2018

Löyly is a new employment event for international students in Oulu organized by OYY together with BusinessOulu, Business Kitchen, Oulun yliopisto – University of Oulu and Oulu Entrepreneurship Society. The event is completely free and all students (both international and non-international) and recent graduates, as well as companies located in Oulu, are welcomed to participate! 7. Scholarship for the creators of the webshops of tomorrow

Trendhim has established a new scholarship, which will yearly reward a student or group of students, interested in online sales, with 2000 €.

The aim is to help students interested in online sales to develop their skills and knowledge.

To be eligible or the scholarship your idea must be related to webshops.

The scholarship can be used for costs for conferences, courses, travel costs or school related costs.

Apply for student representative for working groups promoting equality at the University of Oulu

Are you interested in promoting equality at the University of Oulu?

OYY is recruiting:
– one deputy member for the working group promoting equality at the University of Oulu (working language in Finnish and English)
– one student representative for joint working group promoting equality at the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education and Oulu Business School (working language in Finnish)

Terms of these both positions end at the end of year 2018.

The Equality Committee has the following responsibilities:
1) to be a cooperation forum that gathers and mediates information and knowledge on equality and parity for the whole university community and to the faculties
2) organizes training sessions and events about equality for the university or for faculties
3) charts, follows and advances the equality and parity plan, keeps it up to date and follows the measures indicated in the plan

Student representatives promote student interest in working groups.  We expect you to have ideas and thoughts how to promote equality at the University of Oulu!

Write in your application why you are interested in position. Mention your major and how many years have you been studied. You have to apply both positions separately.

Application period: 15.3.2018–2.4.2018
Term: 1.1.2016–31.12.2018

OYY organises Keep fit -event with Dance school Matleena on Wednesday 21st of March from 3.30 to 5 pm. in Linnanmaa sports hall, section 3. In this try-out session we try three different dancing types: Boogie Woogie, Fusku and West Coast Swing. Welcome along to try all of them, or just one! You do not need your own partner with you! Venturing Research Challenge is a three day event in which entrepreneurial-minded students and researchers interested in commercializing their business meet. You will learn entrepreneurship through mentoring and coaching from those who have done it before. You’ll develop skills with which you can help researchers commercialize their research findings. You’ll get contacts of researchers, entrepreneurs and students who like to get stuff done.

This time our cases develop the future of sustainable biobased businesses. Researchers from Luke – Natural Resources Institute provide us with their top solutions.

7. Borrow a laptop!

You may borrow a laptop for campus use on both campuses, Linnanmaa and Kontinkangas, using the self-service machine.

You can borrow a device from the Laptop Vendor for no more than three (3) hours at a time without payment and may do it twice (2) per day.

Both the borrowing and the returning operate with the card or sticker with the rfid identifier and which must be first registered on the self-service machine. The student’s O365 user name is needed for the registration.

There are 24 devices available in the Laptop Vendor of Linnanmaa campus and 12 on Kontinkangas campus.

3. Forbidden to leave open University outer doors

Reminder due to weekly problems: Leaving University outer doors open using a wedge or in any other manner is forbidden. If one needs access to University premises, the person shall contact the access right administrator: Facility Services for staff with supervisor approval to access rights, personal 24/7 campus card from webstore for students. Leaving the doors open when the facilities are locked may result in security problems, damages to the building systems and finding out the responsible ones afterwards.

6. Demola is looking for students to join projects

7. Need a binder?

There was a spring-cleaning at the office of the Student Union a few weeks ago. During the cleaning we found a big number of binders which we don’t need anymore. If you need a binder, feel free to get your in front of our office!

Löyly – find a job in Oulu

Löyly is a new employment event for international degree students studying or recently graduated at The University of Oulu and for local companies. It’s time to bring companies needing employees and student needing employers together!

If you are interested what skills empolyers look for when hiring, Finnish workplace culture and companies in Oulu wanting to recruit international students, this event is for you!

Program will include inspiring presentations and workshops from companies that have international activities, specialists and international alumni. It will take place at Business Kitchen facilities at University of Oulu on 6th of April.

Themes will revolve around
· Connecting with local Companies and Entrepreneurs,
· Job Search Process & Work Skills,
· Making a difference & Communality

The event is completely free and all students (both international and non-international) and recent graduates as well as companies located in Oulu are welcomed to participate!

The day event will take place from 9 am to 4 pm at Linnanmaa Campus. Speakers will perform at Agora (AT128) and workshops, cv picture pop up and career fair is at TellUs innovation arena.
