Subject societies or guilds as they are commonly called provide a link between a student and their study program and faculty. Guilds organize various activities that support studying and they also arrange free-time activities and parties. Some guilds have their own roof guild which gathers all students / guilds in one field together.
The different colored overalls are perhaps the most visible symbol of the subject societies. Even though they are a interest society and not a guild, ESN Oulu also has their own overalls which are blue. If you want to purchase your own overalls, contact the guild of your subject or ESN Oulu. Society ribbons are usually held in annual parties. Students can wear both the Student Union ribbon and the ribbons of their societies. Listed below are the subject societies with their emblems.
