Sustainable Development Week is here again with events taking place both on and off campus

The traditional Sustainable Development Week, organized jointly by the University of Oulu and OYY, will take place September 21st–25th. Check out the week’s program in this article!

Tuesday, September 22

Sustainability Week kicks off with a market event held at the green coat racks on the Linnanmaa campus from 11 am to 1 pm. The event will feature organizations promoting sustainability from both the university and outside sources, so come check out the stands and activities on offer. You can also pick up a Sustainability Week overall patch while you’re there!

From 11 am to 1 pm., Konekilta will be running its classic bike repair station at Linnanmaa. The exact location of the repair station will be announced later.

From 6pm to 7:15 pm The Brown Bag seminar takes over the Oulu Central Library. The theme of this seminar is participatory research. Wednesday, September 23

There’s something happening again at the green coat racks: on Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm., students will be hosting their own flea market there. Come find some unique flea market treasures!

From 11 am to 1 pm, Konekilta bike repair station will be on the Kontinkangas campus. The exact location of the repair station will be announced later.

5:30 pm onwards:  Let’s enjoy science through film – the documentary ”The Death of the Queen” will be shown at the Star Movie Theater. Reserve your spot quickly if you’d like to attend! Thursday, September 24

From 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm., the Climate Café will be held at Humus Café, with the Sámi Climate Council leading the discussion. Come join us for a casual chat about climate issues — you’ll find Humus Café on Geokatu near the Engineering Lobby on campus.

On Thursday evening, starting at 5:00 pm., OYY’s Advocacy Section will kick off its meeting at Tellus Backstage. You can still register for the event until September 16th, but you’re welcome to attend even if you missed the official registration (though food will only be served to those who registered in advance). Friday, September 25
