Student Representatives of the administration

A student representative is the voice of students in decision making. There are student reps in the University’s governance ranging from the Board of Directors to Degree Programme Committees.

What is halloped?

In the University of Oulu students are represented by student representatives. They are also called hallopeds (from Finnish ”hallinnon opiskelijaedustaja”, which translates to student representative). A student representative is the voice of students in decision making. There are more than a hundred student representatives in the University of Oulu. They have in the University’s governance ranging from the Board of Directors to Degree Programme Committees.

Student representatives are chosen for a term that lasts for two years, the next term is 2024-2025. Resignation from a halloped position is possible in the middle of a term, for example when graduating or in case of other changes in life situation.
