Student Representatives of the administration

A student representative is the voice of students in decision making. There are student reps in the University’s governance ranging from the Board of Directors to Degree Programme Committees.

What is halloped?

In the University of Oulu students are represented by student representatives. They are also called hallopeds (from Finnish ”hallinnon opiskelijaedustaja”, which translates to student representative). A student representative is the voice of students in decision making. There are more than a hundred student representatives in the University of Oulu. They have in the University’s governance ranging from the Board of Directors to Degree Programme Committees.

Student representatives are chosen for a term that lasts for two years, the current term is 2024-2025. Resignation from a halloped position is possible in the middle of a term, for example when graduating or in case of other changes in life situation.


Someturva to support hallopeds

 

The University of Oulu has made Someturva (social media support) available to all student representatives in the University. Someturva is a confidential service that supports hallopeds in bullying and harassment situations, and can be used anonymously. No information will be passed on to the university, OYY or any other party.

What does Someturva offer?

Someturva provides quick support and concrete help in dealing with situations. The experts offer:

  • Psychosocial support
  • Legal assessment
  • Advice and guidance on how to deal with the different platforms
  • Support for removing material online

The service can also be contacted proactively if the situation threatens to escalate.

How does Someturva work?

Someturva is accessed using your email address or phone number. The first time you log in, you will also need your University of Oulu Hallopeds activation code. Detailed instructions and the activation code have been sent by email to all hallopeds. If you have not received the message or cannot find it, please contact help@oyy.fi.

 

An information session on how to use the service was held in May 2024. The recording has been sent to all hallopeds by email and can also be requested at help@oyy.fi.
