The biggest provider of student accommodation in Oulu is Pohjois-Suomen opiskelija-asuntosäätiö, known as PSOAS. PSOAS currently owns over 5 500 apartments, consisting of studio apartments, shared apartments and family apartments. The largest student housing block is located in the immediate vicinity of the Linnanmaa campus – there are about 1 500 apartments there! More student apartments are located in, for example, the city centre, Välkkylä, Tuira, Toppila and Appila.
Typically, student housing comes with access to a sauna, laundry room and various recreational facilities for common use. In almost all of PSOAS’s accommodation, water and internet are included in the rent. While living in PSOAS housing, it’s recommended to take part in tenant committee activities – it’s also a great way to get to know the neighbours!
PSOAS also offers a flat exchange service through which you can apply to be a subtenant or sublease your own PSOAS-apartment. If you can’t find an apartment to your liking via PSOAS, there are also lots of privately owned rental apartments available in Oulu.
