At the University of Oulu’s administration, students are represented by student representatives known as “hallopeds.” A halloped serves as the voice of the students in decision-making. There are over a hundred hallopeds at the University of Oulu, and they influence all aspects of university administration, from the Board of Directors to the degree program committees. The Student Union of the University of Oulu recruits student members for the two-year term 2026–2027. The term for doctoral candidates’ representative bodies is 2025–2026. The application period is October 5–18, 2026. The following positions are currently open (member + deputy member):

  •  FSHS Heath Working Group (requires fluency in Finnish) (0+1)
  • Juvenes Restaurant Working Group (1+2)
  • Sodexo Restaurant Working Group (1+2)
  • First Year Experience Working Group (0+1)
• Currently open student representative positions within the faculties (member + deputy member):
  • • Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine:
      – Management Group (0+1)*
      – Faculty Board (0+1)*
      – Equality and Diversity Working Group of Kontinkangas (1+1)
    • Education and Psychology:
      – Education Committee (0+1)*
    • Science
      – Faculty Board (0+1)*

    • Medicine:

Only students enrolled in the respective faculty may be elected to the faculty’s governing bodies. Student members receive a meeting fee of 44.50 € per meeting for meetings of the bodies marked with an asterisk, IF the member is not a member of the university staff.

• the Act on Equality between Men and Women (the applicant’s gender)
• the applicant’s degree program
• motivation for the position
• previous experience in similar roles
