The turnout in the Student Council elections was 33.3 percent. The one hundred candidates formed 11 electoral alliances and 2 electoral circles, and in addition there were 5 independent candidates.

37 members and their vice members were elected for the term 2024-2025. The largest amount of votes was collected by the Election circle of Technology and Economy Students, who maintained their eleven seats. Close second was the Interdisciplinary Electoral circle, who added one seat to their previous result and rounded it up to ten.

Iida Vahtola of the Electoral alliance of the Left Students collected the most votes in the elections, 179 votes. ”Of course it feels good, I’m really happy by the trust I’ve received”, commented Vahtola.

The elections were completely electronic for the first time, as the enrollment for candidates was with an electronic form for the first time. The voting has been electronic for several elections.

The Chair of the Central electoral committee Tittu-Lotta Paju is satisfied with the technical success of the elections. ”The organisation of the elections went well, the enrollment of candidates and voting went smoothly and you can be satisfied with the voting system.”

The first meeting of the newly elected council is planned to take place on Wednesday 29 Nov. The agenda of the meeting includes electing the Chair of the Board for the year 2024. The new council will have two meetings by the end of this calendar year. The new council’s second and last meeting of the year is planned to be on Tuesday 12 December, which is where the new members of the Board of the Student Union for the year 2024 will be selected. All members of OYY are eligible to run for the Board.
