Vilma Sippola elected as the Chair of OYY’s board for 2025
The Student Council elected Vilma Sippola as the Chair of the OYY board for the year 2025! The board will be elected on 4 December.
The student council of the Student Union of the University of Oulu (OYY) has unanimously elected 23-year-old Vilma Sippola as the Chair of the Board for 2025. This year, Sippola has served as the second vice chair of OYY’s board, with responsibilities in social policy, livelihood and urban advocacy. She is a fourth-year student of history of sciences and ideas.
“I am truly grateful for the trust bestowed upon me, and I am excited to lead the student union in the upcoming year. The municipal elections in the spring are a significant opportunity for us. We will work hard to encourage students to vote and to highlight the needs of students in Oulu,” Sippola states.
“During the past year, Vilma has demonstrated that she is hard working, motivated and remains calm even in the most challenging situations. She has grown particularly as a student advocate, and next year, our focus will be on urban advocacy, an area in which Vilma excels in,” comments OYY’s Secretary General, Kauko Keskisärkkä.
The members of OYY’s board and the chairpersons of the student council will be elected at the next meeting of the student council, scheduled for December 4 at Oulu City Hall. Applications for board membership are open until November 27.
