Juho Jokinen elected as the new student representative of the University of Oulu Board

The Student Council of OYY kicked off its academic year at a meeting held yesterday, Thursday, September 3rd. This was the third meeting of the year in total.

The meeting culminated in the election of the student representative for the University Board of Directors. After a lively discussion and a vote, Juho Jokinen, a student of Finnish language, was elected as the student representative of the Board. Jokinen has gained previous experience in positions of trust, including through his role as a student representative on the university administration, known as a “halloped”.

“I consider myself a learning-oriented person, so this new role and the new things I’ll learn along the way seem exciting. I’m really looking forward to this role,” Jokinen says, describing his feelings following the election.

Other matters discussed at the meeting included the approval of the Student Union’s parliamentary election program and the selection of a delegation to attend SYL’s general assembly later this fall. The parliamentary election program  will be published on the OYY website as soon as it is ready for release.
