OYY traditionally awards the Jäätävän hyvä opettaja (The Coolest Teacher) prize each year based on nominations from students and subject societies. Nominate your Coolest Teacher through the link below by 14 December!
The Student Union of the University of Oulu (OYY) is looking for The Coolest Teacher of 2025. You can nominate any university teacher from any field of study. The Coolest Teacher is someone who is motivated to develop their work and has strong pedagogical skills. They use a diverse range of assessment methods that are systematic, fair, and based on the learning outcomes of the course.
Nominations can be submitted by individual students or student associations. Based on the nominations, OYY’s Board will select The Coolest Teacher at the beginning of the year, and the winner will be announced during OYY’s Annual Ball Week at the end of February.
We’re looking for The Coolest Teacher –someone who:

is an inspiring teacher

is highly professional

teaches in a logical, easy-to-follow way

clearly explains the course’s learning outcomes and aligns assessment with them

is flexible and understands the diverse needs of students

uses a variety of assessment methods creatively and engagingly
