The Student Council approved the action plan and the budget, the membership fee will increase by three euros
The OYY Student Council had its last meeting of 2024 on Wednesday 4 December. The meeting elected the Board of the Student Union and the Chair and Vice Chair of the Student Council for 2025, and decided on the membership fee, the budget and the action plan. The membership fee was increased by €3 per academic year, the new fee will be €60 per academic year or €30 per semester. For doctoral researchers, the membership fee is €40 per academic year or €20 per semester. The increase in the membership fee is based on general cost increases. The last time the OYY membership fee was increased was in 2018. The membership fee is subject to confirmation by the Rector.
In addition to ongoing activities, four projects were approved in the Action Plan. Familiarizing students with advocacy project will develop communication between OYY, organisations and other internal stakeholders by creating an advocacy section to address current issues. Familiarizing students with the student union’s services and events project will create an overview of Student Union services and their marketing, which will improve access to information about the services available and also facilitate the marketing of these services. Promoting student well-being through peer tutoring project will re-launch the wellbeing tutoring project. The project will be coordinated by a part-time welfare coordinator. The fourth project, called Active societal advocacy, aims to work actively to mobilise students to vote in local and regional elections and to raise students’ concerns with decision-makers during and after the elections.
The full action plan and budget will be added on our website as soon as they are ready for publication!
