Working Group of Sustainable Development
The Working Group of Sustainable Development is appointed to advance sustainable development in research, education and in societal communication and is also responsible for the guidance and supervision of those.
OYY’s Specialist in Social Affairs supports the representatives in their task. Participation in the working group is voluntary work and does not award the participants study credits.
The working group’s tasks include:
- Guiding and counselling parties of the University of Oulu
- Supervising actions of sustainable development and reporting about those to the management
- Processing initiatives pertaining to sustainable development from the advisory committee
- Supporting co-operation at the university and in the surrounding society with operators pertaining to the working group’s subject
- Designing and observing the sustainable development and global responsibility programme of the University of Oulu

Working group for sustainability and responsibility in education
Working group for sustainability and responsibility in education is a working group that advances sustainability and responsibility in education. The Working group for sustainability and responsibility in education has one member from each faculty, a representative from Lingua, and a student member and their vice member. Also, the university’s Sustainability and Responsibility Specialist from the Unit of Strategy and Science is included in the group, as well as the Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Minor.
The working group, for example, participates in the preparation of the university’s Sustainability and Responsibility Action Plan from the viewpoint of education, and works as the steering group of the Sustainable Development Minor, that is a joint minor of all faculties.
