To take sick leave
Students are not required to nor should they study at the expense of their own health. A student is entitled to take sick leave from their studies and receive the Sickness allowance. Primary health care for degree students is provided by the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) which specialises in student health care. Postgraduate and exchange students are not entitled to use FSHS’s services. A student is also always entitled to use the public health care services provided by their own municipality of residence and study.
